What you need to apply for accreditation
All applications must be submitted via an online application portal. We no longer accept emailed applications. As of 2025, the process to apply for renewal of full accreditation is different from initial applications or application to move from provisional to full accreditation. Please review the lists below to ensure you are prepared for the online submission system:
Initial applications or previously provisionally accredited programs:
- Major coursework template
- Dean’s letter of support
- Curricula vitae of selected program faculty
For your convenience, you may utilize an unformatted template of the 2025 application to help prepare your submission. Note that many application fields require direct entry into the online submission system, but you may cut and paste responses from a working document as appropriate.
Renewal of full accreditation:
- Curricula vitae of new program faculty since the prior accreditation decision
You may utilize an unformatted renewal template to prepare your submission. Prior to initiating your renewal application, it is strongly recommended that you review your program's prior application and accreditation decision letter. Please contact education@asbmb.org if you need either of these items.
Key dates
- May 23: Accreditation application opens
- Sept. 15: Accreditation application closes
- January 9: Decision letters sent to programs
