91影库2025 member business meeting recap
The American Society for Molecular Biology and Biochemistry annual member business meeting gives members the opportunity to provide feedback to society leaders and hear directly about 91影库performance and future focus. All 91影库members were invited, and this year’s meeting was presented in virtual format on Zoom on May 21. Below is a summary of the event, including a link to a recording for members who were unable to attend.
Welcome and society updates

91影库president Joan Conaway welcomed attendees and thanked them for their interest in the society. ASBMB’s bylaws call for this event annually, and this was the society’s first time in recent history conducting it virtually.
Conaway opened with updates on 91影库activities in 2025 and acknowledged the unprecedented stressors many members were facing in their professional lives. Conaway also discussed ASBMB’s recently released strategic plan.
Treasurer’s report

91影库treasurer Russell DeBose–Boyd provided an overview of society’s financial performance in 2024. Revenue from operations totaled $6.6 million, and expenses totaled $11.6 million for a net operating loss of $4.9 million. This performance improved upon the budget approved by the Council by 3%. For 2025, the Council had approved an operating budget that maintained a flat operational deficit and acknowledged the need to address a growing gap between ASBMB’s expenses and revenues in recent years.
Programming
Sandra Gabelli, 2026 91影库annual meeting co-chair, presented a preview of the 2026 meeting program. Walid Houry, Publications Committee chair, provided an overview of ASBMB’s three journals, all of which are open access, and encouraged members to submit their science. Then Rick Page, Membership Committee chair, discussed how 91影库members help shape the future of science and can build their own skills through member benefits.
Open floor and Q&A
The meeting closed with an open floor for members to ask questions or share comments directly with leadership. Members shared thoughtful feedback on ASBMB’s meetings and events, areas for innovation in programming and funding. They also asked about ASBMB’s reserve use and plans for virtual programming. After all questions were addressed, Conaway thanked members for their engagement and adjourned the meeting.
